Goodbye to Breyden's car

Well it seems Breyden is a lot more resilient than his car.  Shortly after driving down from Salmon Arm and leaving the car with his mom and step dad, the car promptly refused to run any more. (and by shortly I mean about 15 minutes later... great timing!!!)

The car was taken to Pemberton Auto Services where Chris checked it out, and found it not really repairable but kindly stored it for us for a few weeks.  After hearing Breyden's story, Sean Tamaki of Tamaki Services bought the car for $200.00, which will go towards Breyden's food etc for the trip.  He also donated $20 towards the fundraising goal.  Thanks so much Sean

Successfully walked the 58km yesterday. And my feet hate me for it. I had a day off coming anyways, might as well enjoy it with family. Will spend a day or two with Kevin and Tamara and family. I

Spences Bridge - The Packing House

Morning coffee at The Packing House

A special shout out and THANKS to proprietor Steve.  He was so friendly and supporting and genuinely interested in Breyden's story.  AND it was the coolest coffee house I have been to in a while.  Great hospitality and atmosphere.

then Breyden set off again with Daryl and Alex.  It sure is a lot easier without the pack.

Arrived at Spences Bridge

Having a rest after dinner and a full day of walking.  Breyden covered 36 kilometers today.  Probably the most distance walked in one day yet.

Nephew Alex.  Aunt Diane.  Breyden. Uncle Daryl

Lytton - Family Joins in

Daryl, Diane and Alex drove up from Vancouver.  Had lunch on a pullout about 15km past Lytton.

It was a short lunch as we decided to make it to Spences Bridge by nightfall so we could eat dinner and spend the night in a hotel together. Breyden, Alex and Daryl  walked for an hour till we met up with Diane who had drove ahead about 6k with the car.

Then Breyden and Daryl went the remaining 15k in run/walk mode.

And arrived in Spences Bridge just as it was starting to get dark.

Stayed at the  The Inn at Spences Bridge.  Ray was a great host and very friendly.  He suggested we check out the Cafe in town tomorrow for coffee. (yes, Daryl and Diane were already scoping out the morning brew)

Up the Fraser Canyon

Left Hope BC this morning.  Out of the lower Mainland and heading up the Trans Canada through the Fraser Canyon.  Had a lot of support from friends and family. Bought some better shoes, got a great backpack from Uncle Byron and Aunt Diane, got the solar charger fixed and ready to head out of the lower mainland now and into the first bit of remote part of the trip.
